Compare and Contrast Treyvon/Emmett

The deaths of Treyvon Martin and Emmett Till were similar and different in many ways. The deaths of them two are similar because they were both killed without doing something major. Their deaths involve racism in some way. Trayvon was killed because he looked suspiscous about carrying a gun. Emmett Till was murdered because he flirted with a white woman. The deaths of these two were way different. Trayvon wasnt tortured in a horrible way he was just shot. Emmett was horribly tortured. Later Emmett's murderers threw him into the river where he died and his body was found 3 days later. Trayvon was older than Emmett by the time of his death being 17 while Emmett was only 14 years old.

Persepolis Blog Post 1

Persepolis is a story of Marjane Satrapi's childhood. The story begins when Marjane is at school at the boys and girls are separated due to the beginning of "The Islamic Revolution." The girls were forced to wear veils to school in which most of them hated wearing them. The reason why they wear veils is kept secret by Marjanes teacher. Marjane wants to become a prophet when she grows up. She is made fun of at school because she wants to be prophet. Marjane wishes to become a prophet because she wants to make the world a better place to live in. Mrajane has a conversation with god every night. God wants her to fulfill her dream of becoming a prophet. He tries to change the subject when Marjane asks him somethings she is not supposed to know. During 'The Islamic Revolution" people were killed when a fire broke out at a warehouse Marjane wanted to do something about it but her parents told her she cant do nothing. Marjane learns that her grandfather was a prime minister back in the day. Her mother and grandma tell Marjane about how poor life was in the early years.

Six Word Memoir Final Day

Forever Loving Them No Matter What
Forever loving them no matter what is a quote that I made up and that I use. The word "Them" refers to my family. I promised my family to forever love them. I promised them that because my family is very important to me. My family is important to me because their always there for me in my happiest or saddest moments. My family are the ones who are never going to backstab me (Thats what I think). To me my parents are the most amazing people in the world. They dont judge my decisions, they understand my problems. My siblings are also very important to me even though we fight. I love them because their funny and we help each other out when either one of us are in trouble. Above is a picture of a family who love and care for each other.

Whale Rider Review

The movie Whale Rider is about a girl Pai who wasn't valued as a person by people in her town because she is a girl and her twin brother was supposed to be the new leader but unfortunately he died at birth. Koro Pai's grandfather wished that she would never be born. Koro starts to train boys to crown a new leader of the tribe. Pai attends the meeting but is kicked out by her grandfather. She secretly trains by herself. Koro has the group of boys go into the ocean and find his whale tooth necklace. None of the boys find it. Pai later finds it when she went fishing with her familly. The whales of the ocean come out into the sand and start dieing. Pai believes its her fault. All the whales start to die. The biggest whale which Koro believes is sent by the ancient ones starts to die as well. After the village people make an effort to bring the whales back to the water but they give up and leave. Pai stays with the whale to try to call to the ancient ones. The whale come back to life and takes Pai with it back to the ocean. The people believe that Pai died but she recovers. At the end the village has a celebration and the story ends. I liked to watch this movie because it shows that who ever you are you can achieve the goals you like. Whether your female or male you can be a leader or someone who people look up to.
